  1. Pvt. Co. F, Enl. 3-15-62 Augusta Co., b. 28 Feb 1833; AWOL Apr. - Oct. 1862. Wounded (leg amputated) at Fredricksbug. Deserted Oct 1864. Died near Staunton, 10 Oct 1876 at the age of 43. Buried Union Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Obituary has "Albert" as name.
  2. May be Alfred Edgar Shiflett, b.c. 1833/9 Augusta Co. near Staunton; s/o Joseph and Melissa Shiflett; m. 1) 24 Mar 1862 Augusta Co Ann C. Robertson, b. 1838, d/o William and Julia (Minnick) Robertson. m. 2) 12 Oct 1873 Addie Gibson, b. 1848 Rockingham Co., d/o Alexander and Jennie (Wyatt) Gibson. No children listed.

Alonzo Shiflett
  1. Private, Co. F., Enl. 3/15/62 Augusta Co., AWOL April 19, 1862, at Harrisonburg, whereabouts unknown as of Mar. 31, 1864
  2. Two listings for an Alonzo: 1)Born c. 1830 Rockingham Co. Listed on the 1860 Rockingham Co. census in the household of Howard Shiflett. 2) Alonzo Shiflett who d. 17 July 1947, buried at Evergreen Cemetery; spouse Lura Morris who d. 24 Feb 1957. NFI

  1. Pvt. Co. D, Enl. 3-21-62 Meem's Bottom; Sick 19 July 1862. Deserted, dropped from rolls, Dec. 1862. Enlisted Co. K, 14th Regiment VA Cavalry. Deserted 1 Jul 1864.
  2. Joshua M. Shifflett, enlisted 11/17/1862 in Co. K, 14th VA Calvary. Present through 4/30/1863; absent sick 4/1/1864. There are two Joshua Shiffletts listed that may be the above Joshua:
    1. Joshua Shiflet b.c. 1840 listed on the 1850 Shenandoah Co. census as the son of Bennet and Mary Shiflet.
    2. Joshua A. Shifflett, b.c. 1845; d. 1874-80; s/o Henry B. and Patience Shiflett; m. 15 Nov 1870 Albemarle Co. Marriage Record, Milly A. Shiflett, b.c. 1850, d/o William S. and Lucretia Shiflett. Had 3 children born 1869, 1872, 1874.

Richard Shiflett
  1. Pvt., Co. G, Enlisted 8/13/1861 Staunton; Deserted at Centreville, Nov. 1, 1861.
  2. The only Richard Shiflett listed that might fit the above would have been 11 years old at the time of enlistment. Possible. See also Rockingham County Men.

Samuel McD. Shifflett
  1. Pvt. Co. D, Enl. 4-17-61 Staunton, laborer, age 21. Sick leave, Oct - Dec 1861. Wounded 9 Jun 1862. AWOL 14 Jun 1863. Reported to have joined the cavalry. Died 8 Aug 1928. Buried Summit Chapel of the Brethren.
  2. May be Samuel McDowell Shifflett, b. 4 May 1840, d. 8 Aug 1928, bur. Summit Church, Augusta Co., Veteran C.S.A. s/o William Lively and Mary Nancy (Orebaugh) Shiflett; m. 1)Susan (Sallie) Armentrout, b.c. 1839, d. 20 May 1879 Rockingham Co. Death Record/North River/40 yrs., 7 mo. 19 d.; c. 1870, d/o Emmanuel and Mary Armentrout. 4 children b. 1871, 1874, 1875, 1876. Married 2) Carrie A. Shiflett, b. 8 Oct 1840 Albemarle Co., d. 2 Jan 1919; d/o Harrison and Matilda Shiflett, 15 Dec 1879 Augusta Co. Marriage Record/Milnesville. 6 children: 1880,1881, 1884,1886, 1889, 1891.
