Generation No. 1
1. Henry 1 Pickett was born Abt. 1640 in Landcaster, England, (see note below) and died Abt. 1702 in Essex Co., Va.. He married 1) Sarah ---- Abt. 1665. He married 2) Elizabeth ---- Bef. 1699.

Notes for Henry Pickett:
Questions have been raised about the location of Henry's birth. There are two books out with info on Henry Piclett who died in 1702, one is: A Gathering of Picketts, 1998, Volume I, by Dixie Johnson Clark, Murray, Utah, and Rosemary Beckham Hill, New Braunfels, Texas. This book has lots of documentation on Henry Pickett but does not attempt to figure out where he was born. A second book, Virginia Footprints,1999, by Thomas L. Hooker, Lake Monticello, Va. states the following: "According to Pickett family tradition, three Huguenot brothers left England for the American Colonies in the 1600s: One coming to North Carolina, one to Massachusetts and one to Virginia. (source: Leader of the Charge - A Biography of General George E. Pickett) Possibly the Virginia Settler was Henry, born in Lancaster, England, about 1640. Upon reaching Tidewater Virginia, Henry settled in Middlesex County along the South shore of the Rappahannock River. (source: Genealogies of Virginia Families Volume IV, Baltimore, 1981)."

Following information from "A Gathering of Picketts,", 1998, Volume I, by Dixie Johnson Clark, Murray, Utah, and Rosemary Beckham Hill, New Braunfels, Texas;

Teste
William Johnson
William (X) Wilson
Richard (X) Edwards

Prov'd by the oaths of William Wilson & Richard Edwards in Essex County Court ye 10th day of Aug't 1702.

We know that Henry died in March of 1702. At the April court, Henry's sons, John and William, petitioned the court to have Henry's widow, Elizabeth, bring in the Will for probate, but she didn't present the Will until the August court. It was then recorded 10 August 1702.' The names of two of the witnesses to Henry's LW&T, William Wilson and Richard Edward, mean nothing to us. We haven't seen them associated with Henry in previous records. They were possibly friends or relatives of Elizabeth.
