This Indenture made this 11th day of Novr in year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Sixty Between John Ogg and Elizabeth his Wife of County of Orange of one part and John Shiflet of Albemarle County of the other part; Witnesseth that John Ogg and Elizabeth his wife for Thirty pounds current money of Virginia doth sell unto John Shiflet one certain tract of land containing one hundred and twenty acres being in Albemarle County at the foot of the Mountains on Kids Creek and bounded beginning in the east side of Kids Creek in the old line, running thence with the same north east to a chesnut red oak, thence south east to a locust, thence north east to a chesnut red oak, thence north to a red oak, thence along several lines of marked trees to two chesnut red oaks on west side of Kids Creek corner to Benjamin Huntsman, thence down the meanders of the Creek to the first station; together with all houses outhouses, waters belonging; To have and to hold unto John Shiflet his heirs and John Ogg and Elizabeth his Wife for themselves and their heirs the said Land will warrant and forever defend against any persons claiming any right; In Witness whereof he the said John Ogg and Elizabeth his Wife hath hereunto set their hands and seals.

This Indenture made and entered into the Sixteenth day of November in the year of our Lord God one thousand and seven hundred and Sixety between Robert Thomson of Fredricksville Parish and County of Louisa of the one part & Mary Davis of the parish & County aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Robert Thomson for an din consideration of Twenty pounds current money of Virginia to him in hand paid before the Signing & ensealing these presents ---- paid the receipt whereof he doth hereby confess and acknowledge and himself therewith fully satisfied contented and paid and of every parts and parcel thereof the sd. Mary Davis her heirs -------- and every of them doth hereby fully clearly & absolutely acquits & discharge hath bargained sold and doth by these presents bargain sell alien make over & Confirm unto the said Mary Davis her heirs ---- or assigns one certain tract or parcel of land containing by estimation one hundred acres being more or less Situate Lying and being in Louisa County and bounded as followeth (to wit) -- Beginning at a white Oak on the bank of Kids branch and on the south Side of the said branch Thence south to a poplar on the side of a Small branch Thence up the sd. branch to the head Spring to a poplar Thence along a line of marked Trees To a small Locust tree in the patent line Thence along the patent line the several Courses To the aforesaid Kids branch thence down the sd. branch to the beginning to have and to hold etc. Peaceably to enjoy the aforesaid one hundred Acres of Land more or less with all houses Orchards gardens woods ----- waters underwoods meadows grounds with all other & Singular the improvements & appurtenances thereunto belonging from the claim Right or title of him the said Robert Thomson or his wife Jane of his heirs --- or any person or persons whatsoever to the only proper use and behoof of her the sd Mary Davis her heirs --- or assigns forever and the said Robert Thomson & his wife Jane for themselves their heirs --- & admrs. doth covenant promise & agree that he will from time to time and at all times forever hereafter against all persons whatsoever the rights of the above said Land & premises warrant and Defend to the Sd. Witnesseth that the said Mary Davis for & in Consideration of the Twenty pounds Current Money of Virginia to her in hand paid before the Signing & Ensealing of these presents already paid the receipt whereof She doth hereby confess & acknowledge & herself therewith fully Satisfyed Contented & paid and of every part & parcel there of the Sd. This Indenture made this Twenty eight Day of march in the Year of our Lord one Thousand Seven hundred and Sixty four Between John Ogg of Orange County and Mary his Wife of the one part and Andrew Shepherd and Company Merchants of sd. County of the other part Witnesseth That the said John Ogg and Mary his Wife for an din Consideration of the sum of Eleven Hundred and Eighty one pounds Eight Shillings & one penny current Money of Virginia Justly Indebted and owing to the Said Andrew Shepherd and Company by and from the said John Ogg which the said John Ogg hath hereby Acknowledge Hath Bargained Sold Confirmed and by these presents Doth Bargain Sell and Confirm to the sd. Andrew Shepherd and Company one Tract or parcel of Land Containing Seven Hundred acres More or Less whereon the said John Ogg now at this Time Lives and purchased by him from Mr. Samuel Garlick and Joining to Mr. William Smiths Capt William Bells Samuel (Edis's?) and Ephraim Simons Tracts Likewise Two Hundred and Eighty three Acres lying in Albemarle County and purchased by the said John Ogg from Mary Davis, William Morriss joining to the Lands of Robert Thomson and Martin Hatheth [prob. Hackett] and at this time possessed by Thomas and John Shiflett and Thomas Snow and also one Negro Man named Tom one named Robin Sixty head of Cattle of Different ----- Five horses and two mares of Different Brands with all the featherbeds Furniture thereunto belonging and every other piece of Furniture etc. also that is now in my possess & property Together with the whole profits Rents and Appurtenances belonging or at any time hereafter to from the said Two Tracts of Land with the whole Increase that may be from the said Mares or Cattle To have & to hold the said Two tracts or parcels of Land with their appurtenances Negroes Stock and Furniture wit the Increase above specified and meant to the said Andrew Shepherd and company their heirs & assigns To the only proper use and behoof of them the said Andrew Shepherd & Company their heirs and assigns forever Provided nevertheless that if the said John Ogg or Mary his Wife or either of them shall well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said Andrew Shepherd & Company their heirs Executors Administrators or Assigns the foresaid Sum of Eleven hundred and Eighty one pounds Eight Shillings and one penny current money of Virginia on or before the First Day of October one thousand Seven hundred and Sixty five with Interest thereon from the Date hereof Then these presents shall cease and become void and of no Effect anything herein contained to the contrary notwithstanding and the said John Ogg and Mary his Wife for themselves & their heirs Executors and Administrators Doth promise and covenant with the said Andrew Shepherd and Company that the said John Ogg will well & Truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said Andrew Shepherd & Company their heirs or assigns the foresaid Sum of Eleven hundred & Eighty one pounds Eight Shillings and One penny current money of Virginia and Interest Due thereon on or before the First Day of October One thousand Sevenhundred and Sixty Five as aforesaid And that the said Two Tracts of land Negroes Stock & Furniture hereby Bargained and Sold is the proper Right of the said John Ogg and Mary his said Wife and that they will Warrant and Defend the same to the said Andrew Shepherd & company their heirs and assigns against them the said John & Mary Ogg their heirs Executors or Administrators or any other person or persons whatever And Further the said John & Mary for themselves their heirs Exors. & Adm. Doth Covenant and agree to and with the said Andrew Shepherd and Company their heirs and assigns that immediately upon Default being made In this performance of the Promise above mentioned it may be Lawful to & for the said Andrew Shepherd & Company their heirs Exors. This Indenture made this Twenty fifth day of April in the year of our Lord Christ one Thousand Seven Hundred and seventy one Between James Powell of the Parish of St. Thomas in the County of Orange and colony of Virginia of the one part and Stephen Shiflet of the Parish of St. Thomas, Virginia Colony of the other part Witnesseth that the said James Powell for and in consideration of the sum of Twenty five pounds Current money of Virginia to him the said Stephen Shiflet in hand paid the receipt thereof he the said James Powell doth hereby confess and acknowledge hath given granted Bargained Sold and by these presents do give Grant Bargain and Sell unto him the said Stephen Shiflet all that Tract or parcel of Land containing one hundred Acres be the same more or less situated Lying and being in Orange County in St. Thomas's Parish and Colony aforesaid and bounded as followeth to wit Beginning here followeth at the mouth of a small Branch Corner at a Poplar two White Oaks &Spanish Oak &running up the Branch to the head and Cornering at a Poplar again Runing from thence over a small Ridge and Cornering at another poplar at the head of another Small Branch and Runing Down the Branch to the great Run and Down the great Run to the Beginning Together with all and singular the Profits- Commodities Hereditaments and appurtenancies to the said Land and Premises Belonging or in any wise Appertaining To have and to hold the afore mentioned Tract of Land with all and singular its appurtenancies unto him the said Stephen Shiflet his heirs and assigns forever and the Reversion and Riversions and Remainder &Remainders Rents and Services and all the Estate Right Title Interest Property Claim &demand of him the said James Powell &his heirs forever. This indenture made this Eleventh day of May in year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy four between John [blank] Junior of Albemarle County of one part and Thomas Walker of same County of other part; Witnesseth that said John Shiflet Junr. for Two hundred pounds Virginia currency doth grant unto Thomas Walker his heirs the following slaves & stock &c, &c, to wit, one Negro boy slave named Isaac and one Negro girl slave named Hannah, one Roan Horse branded on near Buttock thus + one black Horse branded on the near buttock P one dun coloured Mare branded on the near buttock with a Panhandle, twelve head of cattle marked with a swallow fork and two nicks in each ear, forty seven hogs marked as the Cattle, three Feather beds and furniture, two Pine Chests, one Cotton Wheel, on Flax ditto; three iron pots, three pewter dishes, five basons, eight plates and one Cart; To have and to hold all the above mentioned slaves, stocks &c, &c, unto Thomas Walker his heirs and John Shifflet Junr. for himself and his heirs the above mentioned sum before the tenth day of May one thousand seven hundred and seventy six with lawful Interest thereon from the date hereof then this deed shall cease and be void otherwise to remain in full power; In Witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed my seal.

This indenture made this 24th day of April one thousand seven hundred and nintey seven between John Shiflet and Susanna his wife of the county of Orange of the one part and Richard Morris of the aforesaid Cty, of the other part Witnesseth that the said John Shiflet and Susanna his wife for and in consideration of Twenty pounds Twelve Shillings and six pence current money of Virginia to him in hand paid by the said Richard Morris the receipt whereof he the said John Shiflet and Susanna his wife doth hereby acknowledge and confess themselves satisfied &paid by these presents have given granted bargained sold ------ Confirmed and by these presents doth absolutely bargain sold ------ and confirm unto said Richard Morris and his heirs forever one certain tract or parcel of Land containing one hundred acres (be it more or less) lying and being in Orange Cty. and bounded as followeth to wit: (viz.) This Indenture, made this fifth day of October one thousand seven hundred and ninety seven Between Joel Shiflet and Sarah his wife of the County of Albemarle and Town of Milton of the one part and Christian Wertinbaker of the same County & Town aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that they the said Joel Shiflett and Sarah his wife for and in consideration of the sum of Ten pounds Current money of Virginia to them in hand paid by the said Christian W,Baker before the sealing and delivery hereof the Receipt whereof the said Joel Shiflet and Sarah his wife doth hereby acknowledge and thereof doth acquit and discharge the said Christian W. Baker his heirs and Assigns forever. . . and confirm unto the said Christian W. Baker his heirs and assigns a part of a Lott in the Town of Milton No. 26. And bounded as followeth to wit Beginning at the North West corner of the said Lott running South with the street seventy four feet Thence bordering on the same Lott toward the South running thirty feet thence running North seventy four feet bordering on the same Lott and thence running on Henderson line thirty feet to the Beginning. Baker his heirs and assigns that the said part of the Lott is free and discharged from all kind of deeds Mortgages or other encumbrances whatsoever ant that they the said Joel and Sarah Shiflett their heirs and assigns will Warrant unto the said Christian W. Baker his heirs and assigns a good and Lawful right and title to the aforesaid Mentioned without the Lawful Lott henderance Molestation or Evection of them the said Joel Shiflett and Sarah his wife their heirs or assigns or any other persons. . . and they the said Joel And Sarah Shiflett shall and will at any other time make the said Christian W Baker any other deed or deeds necessary for the further better and more Effective assuring and conveying the above mentioned part of a Lott and premises unto the said Christian W. Baker his heirs or assigns as the said Christian W.
