Anfield Shifflett Barbara Shifflett

Anfield Shiflett (b. 7 May 1837, d. Aug 31, 1906) and his wife, Barbara Frazier (b. May 2, 1843; d. Aug 3, 1910 "She died as she lived a Christian") m. 9 Nov 1858. Barbara was the daughter of Leland and Barbara Mallory Frazier . Anfield was the son of Benson and Christina Shiflett.


Charles P. Shiflett was the first child born to Calvin and Elizabeth Herring Shiflett in May 1848. By oral tradition, Calvin is the son of Benson and Christina. He married Sarah Ann Walton on 6 Jan. 1870, Greene Co. On the 1850 census, Charles is listed with his parents, Calvey and Elizabeth, and is 2 yrs. old, giving us a correct birth year of 1848. Sarah was the daughter of Tipton Parrott and Sallie (Dowell) Walton. Both Charles' and Elizabeth's fathers were killed in 1865 in the incident at Boonesville during the Civil War. Joseph and Eliza's tombstone

Joseph Z., 5th child of Charles and Sarah, and his wife, Eliza Rachel Shifflett. Eliza was the daughter of William R. and Fluanna Morris Shifflett, and a descendant of Amanda Jane Shiflett and her husband, Ira Howard Via on her mother's side, and descended from William Hiden Shiflett on her father's side.

Charles Howard Shiflett [Nov. 13, 1887 - July 27, 1945] married 8 Aug 1912 Albemarle Co., VA Lonia A. Shifflett. They divorced before 1921. She is descended from William Hiden Shiflett.

George Minor's Tombstone

George Minor [September 24, 1910 - March 5, 1960] was one of 12 children born to Joseph and Eliza Shiflett and is my grandfather. He married Frances Lucille Garrison on 24 Nov 1931, in Charlottesville. Frances was the daugher of Henry Clay and Mary Jane (Via) Garrison and a descendant of Amanda Jane Shiflett and her husband Ira Howard Via on both her mother and father's sides of the family.
