ANNIE ROADCAP SHIRKEY
BROADWAY - Annie Roadcap Shirkey, 74, of Broadway died Friday night at University Medical Center in Charlottesville, where she had been a patient since July 29. Mrs. Shirkey, who had been ill a year, was born March 3, 1909, at Port Republic and was a daughter of the late John Henry and Annie Maria Shifflett Roadcap. On Jan. 29, 1927, she married Willard Lee Shirkey Sr., who died Aug. 2, 1956. Surviving are four daughters, Ann Lee Miller of Princeton, Mo., Mildred Mirene Trohanov of Sterling, Fledia Marie Santmyer of Woodbridge and Sharon Ann Harrison of Timberville; a son, Willard Lee Shirkey Jr. of Broadway; a sister, Caroline May of Virginia Mennonite Home; 28 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. The body is at the McMullen Harrisonburg Funeral Home pending completion of funeral arrangements.

Earman Funeral
CHARLOTTESVILLE - The funeral for Betty Rhodecap Earman, 79, of Charlottesville will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at the Lindsey Harrisonburg Funeral Home. The service will be conducted by the Rev. J. Jarred Smith, and burial will be in Weavers Mennonite Cemetery. Mrs. Earman died Wednesday at Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville. She was born Sept 26, 1901 at Port Republic and was a daughter of the late John H. and Maria Shifflett Rhodecap. She lived most of her life in Harrisonburg and Dale Enterprise but had moved to Charlottesville in February 1969. Mrs. Earman was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church and the church's Rebecca Sunday school class. Her husband, Albert William Earman, died May 27, 1964. Surviving are a daughter, Vivian Hollar of Charlottesville; two sisters, Annie Shirkey and Carrie May, both of Harrisonburg; three grandsons; and six great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends 7-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

DORIS ROADCAP WARD
Doris Roadcap Ward, 79, of 1110 Rockingham Drive, Harrisonburg, died Friday, Feb. 6, 2004. Mrs. Ward was born Dec. 9, 1924, in the Singers Glen area of Rockingham County, and was a daughter of the late John C. and Daisy Crawford Roadcap. She prepared taxes for people in her home for many years. She was a member of the Rion-Bowman Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 632 Ladies’ Auxiliary, where she served as president. Mrs. Ward was a member of West Side Baptist Church. On Jan. 15, 1949, she married Garnet T. Ward, who preceded her in death Aug. 15, 1988. Surviving are two daughters, Carol Orebaugh of Harrisonburg and Pam Garletts of Cooper City, Fla.; two sisters, Ruth Bennington and Jean Pitsenberger, both of Harrisonburg; two brothers, John Roadcap Jr. of Weyers Cave and Robert "Bobby" Roadcap of Singers Glen; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The Rev. Joseph Vought will conduct a graveside service 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Woodbine Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the McMullen Funeral Home in Harrisonburg. FRANCES ELIZABETH SHIFFLETT ROADCAP
Frances Elizabeth Roadcap, 73 of Harrisonburg died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital. She had been ill the past two months. She was born March 28, 1927, in Linville and was a daughter of the late ZIRKLE and Susan Sheehan Shifflett. She attended Linville-Edom School and Herwin Chapel Church. She retired as a floor lady at BrockwayPlastics after 36 years of services. Survivors include a daughter, Rosemary Baker of Elkton; two sisters, Catherine Dovel and Ruby Shifflett, both of Harrisonburg; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. The funeral was conducted Sunday, Dec. 10, by the Rev. Chip Leatherman at Kyger & Trobaugh Funeral Home in Harrisonburg. Burial was in Linville Cemetery.

GROTTOES — James S. Roadcap, 85, a retired farmer and lifelong resident of Grottoes died Wednesday morning at the Newman Nursing Home. He had been a patient there for 15 months. He was born April 20, 1881 at Grottoes and was the son of Robert H. and Rhoda Marshall Roadcap. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Helen R. Mundy of York, Pa., Mrs. Maud R. Godwin of Port Republic, Mrs. Hazel R. DeAtley of Richmond and Mrs. Frances R. Olsen of Washington; one son, Robert H. Roadcap of New Hope; one brother, Ruben Roadcap of Port Republic; 12 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren. His wife, the former Laura Dora Shifflett, died in 1953. The funeral will be conducted 2:30 p.m. Friday at the W. H. Kyger Funeral Home by the Rev. William Gouldman. Burial will be in the Port Republic Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 7 - 8 p.m. Thursday. Pallbearers will be Howard and Alfred Morris, Floyd Edwards, Robert Shifflett, Preston Roadcap and William Raynes. Relatives, pallbearers and friends will meet at the funeral home 2:15 p.m. Friday.

"Funeral Services At Port Republic Friday Morning.
John H. Roadcap, known by his friends as "John Peach" died Tuesday night at 10:24 at Rockingham Memorial Hospital. He was born Oct. 29, 1875 near Port Republic, the son of the late Robert and Roda Roadcap. He spent his entire life in the vicinity of Grottoes and Port Republic where he is known and loved by all. His is survived by his wife, the former Annie Maria Shifflett and the following children, Mrs. Betty Earman, of Dale Enterprise; Mrs. Carrie May; Mrs. Frances Sager and Mrs. Thelma Armentrout of Harrisonburg and Mrs. Mae Shirkey, of Alexandria. The following brothers: Robert Roadcap of Norfolk, Ruben Roadcap, Charlie Roadcap, James Roadcap, Luther Roadcap, of Grottoes and Joe Roadcap, of River Side. He also leaves nine grandchildren. The funeral will be held from the Port Republic Methodist Church Friday morning at 11 o'clock with the Rev. C. E. Long officiating and Rev. C.L. Salmon assisting. The body will remain at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Thelma Armentrout, of Harrisonburg until the hour of the funeral."

RALPH EDWARD ROADCAP
Ralph Edward Roadcap, 76, of Grottoes, passed away Wednesday, November 22nd, 2006 at King's Daughter Community Health, Staunton, where he had been a patient since July of this year. Mr. Roadcap was born in Rockingham Co., on September 2, 1930, and was a son of the late James Paul and Camille Isabelle (Williamson) Roadcap. He was retired from Reynolds Metals in Grottoes, VA. He was a member of Grace Memorial Episcopal Church Port Republic. He served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War, and was a member of the Grottoes VFW Post # 4698. He was known for his love of Grottoes Little League, where he was a long time coach, manager, and fan. The St. Louis Cardinal's lost one of its best fans. He was united in marriage on June 9, 1955 to Trene (Gibson) Roadcap, who survives. He is survived by three sons, Daryl Roadcap, of Greenville, and daughter-inlaw Alice of Grottoes, Philip and wife Polly Roadcap of Grottoes, Donald and wife Kathy Roadcap of Grottoes, one sister, Margaret Crickenberger of Weyers Cave, one brother, Leonard Roadcap of New Hope. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Julie Roadcap, Brent Roadcap, Katie Roadcap, Jared Roadcap. He was preceded in death by a sister, Ellen Flecker and a brother, Sonny Roadcap. A funeral service will be conducted at the Grace Memorial Episcopal Church, Port Republic, at 2:00 PM on Sunday, November 26th, with the Rev. Stuart Wood officiating. Burial will follow at the Eastlawn Memorial Gardens Harrisonburg, VA. The family will receive friends Saturday 7-8 PM. at Johnson Funeral Service Grottoes Chapel. Memorial contributions may be given to Generation Crossing or Alzheimer's Association Piedmont Chapter. Johnson Funeral Service, Grottoes is in charge of arrangements.

Stanley Wayne Roadcap, 62, of Crimora passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 27, 2016. He was born on May 28, 1954, a son of the late Leonard Roadcap and surviving Betty Bosserman. Stanley worked 25 plus years for Western State and most recently at Valley Precision. He had a passion for music, never met a stranger and was dedicated to the care of his mother. Survivors also include his daughter, Nikki Roadcap of Orlando; his second father/uncle, Donnie Alford of Crimora; as well as extended family and friends. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at Forest Chapel Church of the Brethren, 36 Crimora Mine Rd, Crimora, VA 24431, with Pastor David Stewart officiating. The family will receive friends following the graveside at the church. There will be no formal viewing or visitation at the funeral home. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes. THELMA ROADCAP ARMENTROUT
Thelma Roadcap Armentrout, 64, of 632 N. Liberty St., Harrisonburg died Friday morning at Rockingham Memorial Hospital. She had been ill two months. Mrs. Armentrout was born April 14, 1914 in Grottoes and was a daughter of the late John Peach and Mariah Shifflett Roadcap. She had worked for Troy Laundry for over 20 years and had been with Shenandoah Produce eight years. She lived in Harrisonburg 50 years. On Aug. 17, 1929, she married Lurty E. Armentrout, who survives. Also surviving are three sisters, Bettie Earman of Charlottesville, Carrie May of Harrisonburg and May Shirkey of Elkton. A graveside service will be conducted 1:30 p.m. Sunday in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens by the Rev. L. C. Armentrout. The body is at the Lindsey Harrisonburg Funeral Home, where friends may call. The family will receive friends at the Armentrout home.
