LILLIAN VERNELL DICKERSON MCDANIEL
It is with deep sadness to announce the loss of Lillian Dickerson McDaniel, who passed away on Wednesday, August 30th, in Charlottesville, Virginia, at the age of 81. Born on October 31, 1941, in Orange County, Virginia, to the late Lemuel and Blanche Dickerson. She grew up in Greene County and attended William Monroe High School where she excelled at playing softball. After graduating, she married her high school sweetheart, Roy. They moved to Northern Virginia where they resided and raised their four children until retiring. Following their retirement, they moved to Madison County where she enjoyed the beautiful scenery while maintaining a meticulous yard and flower gardens. She especially enjoyed the hummingbirds that her hard work attracted. She will be forever remembered for her dedication to serving her community. Whether it be faithfully ringing the Salvation Army bell, fundraising for the Wolftown Ruritians and the Stanardsville Fire Department, or her devotion to Rose Park United Methodist. Her love for children was evident by the amazing Christmas tradition she created. She brought the magic of Santa alive for many children each year. Santa did not just show up at her house, he came on a tractor, a fire truck, or even from a helicopter. She always had a gift for each child, not just a generic gift, but a gift that was chosen for each of them personally. Most years she purchased gifts for over 50 children. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by one sister, Mildred Aldridge. Treasuring their memories and forever mourning are her husband, Roy L. McDaniel; sons, Troy Alan McDaniel and Timothy Scott McDaniel (Dianne); daughters, Teresa Morris and Tammy Lucas (Mike); sister, Hazel Peyton (Kennon); brother, Charles Dickerson (Linda); her 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. A family night will be held from 6pm-8pm on Monday, September 4th at Preddy Funeral Home in Madison. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Tuesday, September 5th at Preddy Funeral Home Chapel with interment at Holly Memorial Gardens in Charlottesville Virginia. A Celebration of Life to follow at Stanardsville Volunteer Fire Department. Although Lillian had a deep appreciation for flowers, if you would like to make a donation in her memory, please consider contributing to Rose Park United Methodist Church Restoration or Stanardsville Volunteer Fire Department.

That's All Folks!
