Comments: My mother was Mable Frances Woodland(Shifflett) Aug 7th 1924-March 24th 2000. Her mother was Anna Shifflett, who was married to Layton B Shifflett. I have information that Anna and Layton had 7 children. The children were split up when Anna was murdered and the family never heard from the youngest child again. Her name was Florence Shifflett. She was 6 months old according to the newspaper article I found and attached below. I am trying to find information on her and/or descendents of her. Also there is record of Anna and Layton having twins 2/10/27 who were said to have passed away 2/13/27. But in other records it shows only an obits for Jay Jr Shifflett. Surviving twin was Josephine Shifflett.

Comments: Thanks to your website, I found another spelling of the surname Staubus! Seems John Shifflet bought land from Alexander R. Givens and Christian and Mary Elizabeth "Staubers" in 1835. Christian and Mary Staubus were my third great grandparents, emigrants from Germany in 1819.

Comments: Thank you so much for all the hard work you have put into this website! I am so excited to look through all of it! My great-great grandmother was Eliza R. Shiflett (married to Joseph Z.), my great grandmother was Pearl (1 of 12 children).
I remember the woman who originally started this website reaching out to my grandmother, Virgina Lucille Hutchinson in regards to any information and/or pictures. I am almost positive that the picture of the "old school house" on this site is the one that we took (we being myself, my sister Kara and our two cousins Keven and Michael) on our trip to Mount Fair, Browns Cove and Boonesville back in 1986. I remember standing right where that picture was taken.
My grandmother has since passed away but she would be so happy to see all of this information together! We are currently searching for her family bible to see if there is any further information we can provide regarding the family.

Comments: My mother was a Shifflette and her father was Grover Cleveland and her mother was Clemmie Morris. I have quite a bit of information along with some pictures if anyone is interested. I found this site very helpful.I know that a lot of work was done and I appreciate everyone that participated in it. I bought the "Shifflett" book which was a great help in putting my family tree together. Thank you Larry for doing that. Would gladly submit the tree on the Shifflett site but am not sure how to go about doing that. If you know, please let me know. Thanks again for all the hard work that you have put into this site. It's a GREAT SITE and an interesting one.
